Before you start, grab a flexible tape measure to make the process easier.

First, push your hair back so it doesn't add length or volume. Place the tape measure in the middle of your natural hairline, facing in either direction, and start running the tape measure all the way from behind the ear to the nape of your neck, then back to the starting point, behind the ear again.

Take two measurements to ensure the same results are obtained both times.
